It is NEVER too late to start

Wow… it is so hard to believe that 2019 is halfway over and summer has officially begun! This time of year is a fantastic time to reflect back on how the year has been going so far. Enjoy all that you have accomplished and get excited for all that is still to come in 2019. Whether you set goals for yourself at the beginning of the year or have just been enjoying each day of 2019 as it comes, we encourage you to take a step back and acknowledge all that you have done so far this year.

Regardless of how the first half of the year went, know there is always an opportunity to begin something new. It can feel difficult, but it is never too late to start something. This time of year can be especially difficult if we reflect back and feel like we haven’t done enough. When in reality, there is a small victory within us each day. Choose to push past the inner thoughts holding you back and only see the possibilities.

When you believe in yourself, there is no need for a new year, a new week, or a new day to begin things. While a fresh start can feel nice, self-love is the only thing that can encourage you to begin something. Self love and embracing your passion and drive will help bring you past any limitations.

It is NEVER too late to start something new.

Beginning something new doesn’t always have to be a big task too. You can choose to cook dinner tonight instead of ordering take away, you can choose to take a different route home as an effort to see the city more, or you could start making an effort to call your loved ones more frequently.

Take the leap of faith. Don’t wait for the right moment to happen, make the moment happen. Be willing to accept that new opportunities are possible. 

Here are some tips for beginning something new: 

  • Write Down Your Goals: Writing down goals or what you want to achieve is helping them come into reality and become real. In addition to writing down WHAT your goals are, write down WHY you want to achieve this new goal. When you find the purpose for your goals, it makes beginning and sticking with something new much easier and more attainable.

  • Remember That It Is Okay If It Doesn’t Work Out Right Away: While it is encouraging to start something, remember that results may not be instant. Remember not to get discouraged and to keep up with your goals even if they don’t happen right away. It takes time to form a routine. Also remember to take time off if needed. While it may feel excited to begin something new, if you happen to get into a place where things aren’t working out, remember that you can always take a break and come back whenever you feel ready. 

  • Don’t Compare: Know that achieving your goals may take time. Remember to not compare your day 1 to someone else’s day 100. Also know that your day 100 and someone else’s day 100 will be completely different. Stay unique to yourself, and continue to shine for yourself.

  • Start Small: While you may want to achieve 10 different things at once, self reflect on what you think is reasonable to achieve at once. Begin with those goals, and remember that you can always begin or add in something new when you feel ready. 

  • Have Fun With It: Motivate yourself to achieve your goals, but still remember to only do things that make you happy. Practice self love by assessing what is fulfilling in life and what may bring you down. Starting something new should feel exciting and motivating. You can always reflect back on what motivated you to begin something new. Do all things with joy and positivity.
